The second issue of the new Astrology Series was minted by the Royal Australian Mint from one ounce of 99.9% pure silver and is dedicated to the Year of the Ox. After the rat, the ox is the second animal in the Chinese zodiac calendar. The motif depicts a robust ox surrounded by the branches of a willow tree, a symbol of humility. In addition, the inscriptions "YEAR OF THE OX", the Chinese character for "ox", as well as weight and fineness are included in the motif. The reverse features the lunar calendar wheel, with the 12 animals on the wheel, a portrait by Jody Clark of Queen Elizabeth II, and the denomination and year of issue. People born under the sign of the Ox are considered strong-willed, determined and particularly reliable. The conscientious Ox is characterized by high moral standards for himself and others, and a strong sense of duty. The silver coin comes in a protective capsule.
